Graduation Day
Posted on May 15th, 2014 by Bryanna DavisFinally! After years of studying, late nights, and cramming for exams it is time for graduation! First off- congratulations on a great job and overcoming some tough times. Second, there are a few things international students should know about graduation and planning for the big day, so let us help you get started.
Applying For Graduation
During the last semester of a student’s studies they will have to apply for graduation. Applying for graduation is a big step. Students will need to see their advisor or program director to apply- if you have not yet done this, do so immediately. The application is quite simple and is more for the registrar’s files. Students will need to fill out a few forms listing their final classes and total credits so that the registrar can check and see if all of the program requirements are met. A student will get a confirmation a few days after applying to let them know if they are missing any requirements or if they are clear to graduate.
Graduation Day
After you pass your final classes you will be cleared to walk for graduation. College graduation is the culmination of all your hard work. Be proud of your accomplishments! Graduation day is a very exciting moment and a chance for all your friends and families to see you accept your diploma. The graduation ceremony will start at a per-determined time and location. It is important for students to listen and know beforehand where they need to line up and in what order. It’s also a good idea to check in with your family and friends beforehand to let them know where you will be sitting and find out where they will be. Since graduation is a big milestone, make sure you get as many photos as possible, you will want to take a few before the ceremony and a few after to ensure you have a few to choose from.
The most important tip is to enjoy the day! Keep in mind that this is the first day of the rest of your life and your career is about to begin. Congratulations graduates.
