European Students wanted by US Schools
Posted on February 16th, 2011 by Jennifer FrankelWith the recent growth in international student numbers coming to the USA from Asian countries, US schools and colleges are starting to turn their attention to European countries into order to boost their student body diversity. The latest report by the Institute for International Education last year showed that China shot up to top spot, and the top 10 is dominated by countries from Asia. With the growth in China’s economy, families now have more disposable income to study abroad – and the USA is their number 1 destination.
With only 1 country in the top 10 from Europe (Turkey), Schools and Colleges in the USA are starting to turn their attention to Europe specifically to boost their international student numbers. Competition for European students is also much harder, as generally studying within Europe is cheaper for students and they can still experience a new culture. The USA does not have the same lure it does to students from other parts of the world.
