International Student Enrollment Showing Signs of Rebounding After 9/11
Posted on November 16th, 2006 by adminDuring International Education Week 2006, the Open Doors Survey released it annual results of international student mobility in and out of the USA, and the signs are looking promising that the number of international students coming to the USA are on the rise again. Though the official figures show a slight fall from the previous year – 565,039 students in 2004/05 to 564,766 students in 2005/06 – the promising figures are in the number of new international student enrollments for 2005/06 which is up 8% to 142,923 new students enrolled in the Fall 2005 semester compared to 131,945 in the previous year.
Other findings in the report shows that for the fifth successive year, the University of California is the largest campus in the USA for international students with 6,881 students and Columbia University a close 2nd with 5,575 international students.
