Alongside other recognizable names such as the Julliard School and Berklee College of Music, Rolling Stone magazine listed Full Sail University as “one of the five best music programs in the country.” International students can take advantage of this distinction and dive into the dynamic music industry by receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in recording arts at Full Sail University.

The recording arts program at Full Sail University is not just a place to learn about the basics of recording arts, it is a program aimed directly toward the recording industry. In addition to the availability of high-end recording arts equipment in house, Full Sail University is located just outside of Orlando, Florida, a huge entertainment hub with hundreds of opportunities for real-world professional development.

The program in recording arts at Full Sail University offers a multifaceted approach to the field that allows graduating students to seek a variety of related careers. The modern music industry is a dynamic and diverse business and thus the modern recording artist needs variety. Students cannot become a one-trick pony and so Full Sail University assures students that recording a band in the studio is just the beginning. The recording arts Bachelor of Science program offers four areas of focus: 1) sound fundamentals, 2) music production, 3) recording, and 4) postproduction. Sound fundamentals cover the basics of both music theory, such as recognizing when a voice or instrument is out of tune, and the ins and outs of basic recording equipment. Music production includes courses on songwriting and music development in order to help students recognize the intricacies of melodies, for example. Recording refers to the art of engineering in a live music session, including essential skills like live mixing. Finally, postproduction incorporates what students learn in recording music with other aspects of the recording arts, such as dialogue and sound effects used in TV, movies, and video games.

Through all four of the foci in the recording arts program at Full Sail University, students are also kept well-rounded via general education courses paired with their core classes. Subjects like human behavior, mathematics, fundamentals of physics, music history, art history, and public speaking allow graduates to enter the various multimedia industries with more than just technical knowledge and with great opportunities to direct their career in their desired direction. Whether a student aims to be an assistant audio editor, a ProTools operator, an audio-visual technician, or a full-fledged producer, the opportunity to study recording arts at Full Sail University builds the necessary groundwork and expertise in a professional and real-world environment.
