International Student Insurance – School Requirements

Posted on August 23rd, 2010 by Jennifer Frankel

As students all across the country head back to school for the start of the new semester – international students are heading to orientation and making their final preparations so they can enroll in class. One of the requirements many schools have, is that students either enroll in their school’s insurance plan or they have to show proof of coverage that meets certain requirements.

Typically school insurance plans are very expensive, and although its an easier option to enroll in your school’s plan – there are cheaper insurance plans available! But for most students, finding and researching all the insurance plan options and checking to see if they will meet your schools requirements is sometimes just too much work!!

HOWEVER…. there is an excellent resource that all students should check out. The school insurance requirement database, which has thousands of schools all over the USA listed in there. Simply find your school and it will instantly tell you if the Student Secure plan will meet your school’s requirements, provide you with the pricing and access to your schools insurance waiver form. It takes all the hard work out of finding a cheaper, alternative health insurance plan.

With the new “Smart” insurance plan, there are plans available to students that start at just $28/month and upwards depending on the plan that is being purchased. For more information and further details please see the Student Secure – International Student Health Insurance plan.

Should you’re nonetheless on the fence: seize your favourite earphones, head down to a Best Purchase and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds higher to you, and which interface makes you smile more. You then’ll know which is right for you.

Very interesting post thank you for sharing I just added your blog to my bookmarks and will check back. Insurance plan plan is indeed very expensive but far more beneficial so it is worth an investment. This is something I appreciate now with today’s education because they are considering things such as insurance plan.

If you are a student below the age of 25 and are planning to go on a trip you may want to protect the hard earned money you have spent for the trip in the event of a trip cancellation. You also need to ensure your are protected from high medical bills if you fall ill or get injured during your trip. Student Travel insurance is absolutely important in both cases. Student travel insurance can be purchased to cover either of these risks or both of them combined.

  14. Sophie Says:

If tourists or visitors are required to have their travel insurance much more to student who have to stay longer in a certain country for their studies. I appreciate schools who are implementing this policy. Introducing insurance to international students is brilliant idea. It is a requirement that is very useful and helpful they will see.
