Reason #1 : Many sources, including the US News and World Report, have ranked at least seven of the top 10 computer science schools in the world to be located in the United States. In addition to such top-tier programs such as those offered at prestigious MIT, Carnegie Mellon University, Stanford University, and University of California: Berkeley, marketable computer science degrees are attainable at nearly every major institution of higher education in the United States. For international students who study computer science in the US, this availability of computer science degrees amounts to a windfall in more than one way.

Reason #2 : Along with the benefits of the marketability and international recognition of quality that come with a degree in computer science from the United States, the fact that nearly all American universities offer worthwhile degrees in the field will enable international students to do so in a state and setting of their choosing. The United States is a vast country with largely different environmental settings, and deciding on the place in which one is to live and study is often as big a decision as any for an international student. However, when deciding to study computer science in the US, an international student can comfortably choose an institution in a setting of their preference, while resting assured they are not compromising on the quality of their degree.

Reason #3 : What’s more is that when studying in the nation with the world’s largest single economy, the resources available to institutions of higher education (particularly in fields like computer science) are unrivaled. This robust availability of funds amounts to not only better programs and a better educational experience for students, but also the opportunity to intern in any number of diverse capacities with any number of similarly diverse employers. Such an experience is one able to be afforded only by a developed entrepreneurial economy such as that of the United States. This opportunity amounts to real life experience in the student’s future career field on top of an unrivaled academic experience.
