I would recommend having a budget and sticking to it! Don't buy just because you can. Buy necessities and a few souveniers. I went to Spain not too long ago and spent way too much money on things I didn't need. Another thing you should consider is the price of calling home. I spent over $600 calling home in 2 months. When I got back a friend told me about long distance plans by prepaid cell phones. TracFone has a long distance plan where you can make international calls for the price of a local call. Definitely worth it...helps you save tons of money.

In order to do a study abroad, can anyone tell me what technological qualifications you would need. I know the Internet is the Internet and so forth, but I am looking for school qualifications (high school and college) and if there are any technology examinations you have to pass to study outside of the USA.

To my knowledge, the only qualification (and I dont even know if it is a requirement) is that you need to be English prepped. I have had a few international students in secondary education math classes and find their English is usually pretty strong. Some slang words confuse them, but most can speak the language better than the regular US students.

Any comments would be appreciated

The tip about taking care of business at home and know important people know you will be away are really important. Also to make sure that you can use the bank online services from wherever you go to study. Sometimes the bank texts you a confirmatio code for online transactions and, if you are not using the cellphone from your home country, you are unable to make wires.

It is also recommendable to research different ways on how to pay tuition and receive money fro living expenses from a foreign bank account; and how much does it cost. Banks normally charge high fees for international wires and foreign exchange conversion. A good way to save money is to check the companies that offer international student payment solutions, there are a few on the Internet.
