Study for Free in Sweden

A topic that was brought up in our international student forums a while ago titled “Sweden - Seriously Free”, was the subject of obtaining an international education in Sweden and whether this was in fact free. After a lot of talking back and forth, it was discovered that for non-EU international students there are in fact no fees to study as an international student at Universities in Sweden.
However, that is all about to change if the Swedish government has their way and a bill is going to be put before the Swedish parliament this fall to discuss and implement fees for international students. But, do not worry if you are planning to studying this year - the bill (if it comes into law) will not come into effect until 2010.

Hi Guys - its great to see all your comments, however your best bet is to search for financial aid sources. This is not something that will happen overnight, you will need to persist.

Hi!we are two undergraduate students from Iran. please help us from this hell! the government is shooting the poor students. The only way out is coming to sweden cos we have heard that studying there is tuition free. We do not have any bachelor degrees and we do not know swedish at all. we just want to get an apply for any majors possible. Hi, myself from Bangladesh. I have completed my higher secondary education here. Then I have taken IELTS exam and got a good score there. Then I applied for higher education in sweden. Even I got a chance to study there. So before few days I have applied for a residence permit. Now I am waiting for the visa. But problem is this, the embassy has took a long time for visa processing. The normal time required for visa processing is only 6 to 8 weeks. But they have been taking more than 10 months as the time of visa processing. I think, I will have my visa after starting my class there. Just think, what kind of problem is this for me. The Swedish Migration Board should be aware about these matter. I really want a helpful solution of these sufferings.
